At Tube City Renaissance, sustainability and a thriving growing community are among our priorities. We believe that green projects are an important way to better our community and create a happy, healthy city for generations to come.

To this end, TCR Board members and volunteers partnered with GTECH to assist with the maintenance and development of the McKeesport Library District Gateway Garden. TCR is also responsible for the McKeesport Community Garden, located at the corner of Walnut Street and 13th Street.

In the past we partnered with Tree Pittsburgh to offer a tree tender course for over 25 participants, and currently have seven tree tenders in our organization alone. In Spring 2015 and Fall 2016 we planted 37 trees in the Library District thanks to the generosity of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. In Fall 2019, we planted 15 trees in  Renziehausen Park, the results of which can be seen hereDuring 2021, we have been able to plant an additional 49 trees in the city.
